There is always action happening with us and all around us. Even sitting on the porch doing nothing is the action no action and just a special case of action. If we stop and take a look beyond the surface of what most of us think of as action, there is massive action that our senses don't perceive. Our hearts beat, our digestive system works, physical things decay, plants sprout and grow, the earth turns on its axis and more.
Getting into action is never done against a backdrop of no action. There is action already going on beyond our sensory abilities and action already going on beyond our awareness. We live in a sea of action and everything we do alters already action. Some people are immersed in the sea of action and struggle to keep their head above water as they are swept along by the currents. Others are more like surfers. They skim across the top of the sea as they travel to destinations of their own choosing. This is not to say there is no resistance for surfers. They have to get up on waves, there is resistance on the board going across water, they can lose their balance and fall or they can find themselves in a sea that is unfavorable for surfing.
It is the nature of action that it never occurs in totally benign circumstances. The upshot is that resistance to change is normal, encountering the unexpected is normal and having to overcome our own automatic action responses when they get in our way is normal. Any of the three can be used as a signal of failure or inability. Any of the three can also be used as guides for what to do next. All are a product of already action. What we do with what shows up is up to us.
